House Bolton's Rise and Fall

Extensive History of House Bolton

House Bolton, a prominent Great House of Westeros, has become extinct after the Red Wedding incident. Once rulers of the North, the Boltons usurped the position from the previous ruling house and established their reign from the Dreadfort. The Boltons' influence extended from the Last River to the lands of the Neck.

Lord Roose Bolton's Leadership

Lord Roose Bolton, the head of the house, strongly believed in the health benefits of regular leeching. This practice became a defining characteristic of the Boltons. Ramsay Snow, later legitimized as Ramsay Bolton, was Roose Bolton's bastard son. After usurping the position from his father, Ramsay became the Lord of the Dreadfort and gained notoriety for his cruel and sadistic nature.

Downfall after the Red Wedding

The Boltons' downfall began with the Red Wedding, a treacherous event that led to the massacre of the Starks. With the Starks removed from power, the Boltons seized the opportunity to rule the North. However, their reign was short-lived. After the Battle of Winterfell, the Boltons were defeated, and their house was extinguished, marking the end of their era in Westeros.
