Altmaier Stuns Sinner in French Open Upset

Epic Five-Set Battle Ends with German Triumph

Daniel Altmaier of Germany shocked the tennis world on Thursday by defeating eighth-seeded Jannik Sinner in a thrilling five-set battle at the Roland-Garros Stadium. In a match that lasted nearly five and a half hours, Altmaier overcame a two-set deficit and two match points to pull off the upset and advance to the third round of the French Open.

The match was a see-saw affair, with both players exchanging breaks of serve and tense rallies. Altmaier started the match strong, winning a tight first set in a tiebreak, but Sinner bounced back to take the second set to love. Altmaier regained the lead in the third set, but Sinner rallied again to win the fourth set and seize control of the match.

With Sinner serving for the match at 5-3 in the fifth set, Altmaier dug deep to break back and force a tiebreak. The German then played with great composure and determination to win the tiebreak and secure his place in the next round. The final score was 6-7 (1), 0-6, 7-6 (10), 7-5, 7-6 (4).

Altmaier's victory was a major upset, as Sinner was considered one of the favorites to win the French Open this year. The German is now through to the third round, where he will face another tough opponent in Karen Khachanov.
